Cincy Riverfront -- 38 images   <Back to the thumbnails>

I had done a little night shooting before. Maybe a couple rolls of asa 400. I do remember taking a few from down town over the older reds stadium.  This was for the fireworks sometime around 1975. Before that I can remember a couple of times during the late 50's and early 60's.

Well digital came along and seemed to fit photos on the internet. From there I needed more zoom so I could use one in an airplane.  At some point I wanted interchangeble lens's.

Now, with digital/interchangeble lens's I'm back trying to do things I used to do with a film camera.  Night stuff was one that I really liked but never got all that proficient with.  Fun but expensive to learn while buying film.  With a digital I have some advantage that helps me like having a poloroid did when shooting film.  I can try a shot and see some result right away and make corrections.

Ok, still no pro by any means.  But I can feel like I'm making progress.  These shots of the riverfront are nothing more than being there with an opportunity to take similar pictures over some period of time.  That let me have a wider range of examples for comparison.  I've gone over the settings used for all these pictures several times.  I've seen things I understand and some that still surprise me.  But they show me a lot and I figure I know where to start from the next time I try a similar setting.

So, there are more than neccessary for a simple web page but that wasnt the purpose.  A group of us were using this page as a topic of discussion about those settings/scene/composition etc.

So, thats an explanation.  And I'm stickin to it.
